Hola One & Poros - Lost EP
[tng1052]

Lost EP is a result of collaboration between Marek Ogorzalek (aka Hola One, Poland) and Paulo Vicente (aka Poros, Portugal). Their initial email exchange about working together gave birth to unexpectedly bigger project including participation of artists from around the world, including Bridget Wishard, Gitta MacKay or Subterminal.

First sketches of tracks from this album were created over two years ago and the whole production took over a year. Some of the tracks go their own way, some create a bigger entity, altogether they result in a very intimate collage of live instruments, field recordings, unusual electronic effects and intriguing structures.

L O S T is a sound collection of losts. I rather prefer to name it as sound collection than song collection because the so called song is a music concept where the human voice knows where is it and what is doing. Here, in

LOST, the human voice is nothing but a sound trying to find a way out in the middle of nowhere; trying to

cross a life time not in a good way but in a pursuit of meaning, The pursuit of meaning is a meaning in

itself. Since this is a record of losts, the pursuit of meaning is the pursuit of what we had already lose. The pursuit of our losts is a record where we find out that to loose is the meaning of pursuit. In this way, it is a record very platonic: knowledge is a kind of rewind of our soul. There are not too much sounds in this collection, as there are not to much elements in the universe, is the contact between them that arise multlitude. “Lost in the Crowd” is a piece where you try to find the other one, the meaning of the other one, more than the meaning of I. The human voice is hesitant in a huge universe of sounds. “Lost of Hope”, as the name not say, is a light in the bottom of the heart. A light in the dark universe. Dark is everything but stars

and its labour. And hope is a way that the human beig found out to imitate a star.“Lost touch” is beautiful.

I love it. Is a kind of loosing ourselves and whatching it at the same time. For people who needs other kind of images to visualize this record, I would say; imagine a meeting between Ute Lamper, Propaganda, Jean-Jacques Brunel, Kraftwerk and Brian Eno at 5 a.m. in Athens, arguing on Brel’s and playing “Dans Le Port of

Amsterdam”. LOST is a beautiful record for lost beings in the universe. Although it is not a map or tourist route for them. LOST.

Now that XS Records [PT Netlabel] is concluding its own activities in terms of releasing I guess it's like time to make a balance of what it has brought to me and everyone I am proud of having collaborated with in terms of development as a person and as a musician, and promoter of digital forms of art thru net-label based mp3 distribution on cc.

In this two years I guess, we have helped to approach people worldwide, with a wide spectrum of diversity in terms of musical aesthetic aproaches. and this colaborative works now released on audiotongue label, from both poros and hola one, two musicians that have met each other dued to xs records, is a prove of that.

A prove of how the digital media and new communication forms can help people worldwide to share what they do in terms of music composition, performance, and so on. And a truly example of how people can stay connected to each other with internet in nowadays global era in the beginning of XXIst century in order to share and develop their own creative ideas.

And I am proud of seeing that this new album from poros and hola one represents all these ideals, and ideals of musical development, in order to make an effort to touch someone with the work we do. Music that is full of messages. Messages that represent our beliefs, our desires, our intentions, what we are, and what we want to project for the society.

This album is full of dark textures and sounds, with a symbiosis of electronic sounds, with electric bass sounds, voices, speeches, field recordings, and so on, that represent loss but invite all you guys to get lost in the music of hola one and poros. Lost in space, and time, somewhere the music transports and lets you go.

Thank you poros, hola one, subterminal, elka brown, mandragora, bridget wishart, glitta mackay and elka brown, for having allowed me to get lost in your work. Now it is time to share this with world. and allow others to get lost, connected, to our minds, our dreams, and our BDIs.

“When all seems to be more than the sum of the parts that constitute it. Much more. So is this "Lost" EP shared by the project and the project Poros Portuguese Polish Hola One. For these and all other beings invited to give another color to each of the seven tracks that make up this experience, an experience of different environmental nuances”

By Rui Diniz

“I found the intriguing music, with interesting details... very 'cinematic'. If you live, they are followed by images, will be even more interesting...

Also liked the female voice ...

Good luck for your project!”

Billy

„Dark and melancholic tracks with electronic warmth...

wish you great success with your new ep”

"Everling" seems to me better terminated, or balanced, or perhaps just busier .. eheh. the space that is left open well knows, the other two subjects, more easily allows the mental journey. I think the balance between the tracks is actually a big plus. can not fail to mention the image that I suppose will be used as cover, I think is well accomplished and well illustrates the themes that I heard. I am curious regarding the artwork later (surely be of good quality) and waiting for the whole period!

I know it was not much help, but until I heard and liked, now criticize.....
